DIY File Cabinet Makeover
At our house, we’ve been trying to get more organized. We had a small file that we thought would hold all of our documents – but you don’t know how many things you actually need to keep until your file is full!
My dad recently bought a new file cabinet, and before he threw his old one in the trash, I took it and gave it a much-needed makeover!
Most of the cabinet is laminate, but I wanted to sand it for good measure. I used my electric sander to make everything smooth before I added any paint! I used two coats of interior white paint from Sherman Williams. After it had dried, I used Scotch Blue to tape my design on it. I wanted to do something modern and simple, so I just did a downward arrow.
I used DecoArt chalk paint to paint the arrows on it, and let it dry completely before I took the Scotch Blue off.
I’m so glad we have this file cabinet – and that it’s no longer an eyesore! I’m planning on using part of the cabinet for fabric storage – but I also want to utilize it well for all of the documents we need to keep on hand. How do you stay organized?
