Cue the Christmas Bells, Carolers, and Santa’s Workshop – It’s Christmas time here at The Deans List Blog! I know, I know – “you aren’t ready for Christmas”, but you have to have some inspiration before Thanksgiving, right? Besides, this deer wreath is so cute you’ll want to have it up all year long! As an extra bonus this is the “best thing I have ever, ever made” according to Mr. Dean. He just wants his actual deer head up in our living room – a big fat nope to that one!
I originally saw this idea from She’s Kinda Crafty – and I knew it was something I needed to make once I saw a deer head in the craft store!
I started with these supplies: (may be affiliate links, read my full disclosure here)
Paper Mache Deer Head
Black/White Striped Ribbon
White Spray Paint
Copper Spray Paint
Pom Pom Trim
I started by wrapping my foam wreath with the Black/White Striped Ribbon, adhering with the Hot Glue. I set that aside, and then spray painted the entire deer head white. My deer head needed a couple of coats of spray paint to be completely covered.
Once the deer head was dry, I used a plastic bag to “section off” everything that wasn’t the antlers.
Then, I used hot glue to attach the deer to my wreath – easy, peasy (lemon squeezie). Then, to add a little decoration, I added some poms + trim from antler to antler.
You could add a sweet little red nose like She’s Kinda Crafty did – or add a fun banner to the bottom – the possibilities are endless. As for me, I just wanted a plain deer to go with some decor around the house.
