Do you remember almost last year when I told you I was remodeling my living room? Well, it’s finally almost done. HA! Is anything ever actually finished? Once I think it’s exactly how I like it, I need to add a finishing touch somewhere else! Are you ready for the before?
Now, let me tell you this before I show you – I absolutely hated this room. We decided to move into the front living room because of the natural light and also we wanted the first thing people see when they walk into our house is to not look like a grandma.
My hand me down house is a work in progress. In all honesty, it’s really hard to want to invest money in it because in the end, it’s not my house. We treat this house like a rental, so major updates (like knocking down walls) are out of the question for now. We don’t plan on pursing to purchase this home either, so we just want it to look nice enough for future buyers or renters!
And now for the Living Room Reveal
One of the things that actually pulled this room together was artwork! Minted graciously provided this extra large abstract artwork to me for this post. I love how much color is in this art, and how I can really make it match just about anything. My husband, father and I DIY-ed this frame, so look for that tutorial coming soon as well.
I love minted because they have beautiful artwork – and you can seriously find any style of art for any room. If you haven’t checked out their large selection of art, you are hands-down missing out – and I would say that even if they hadn’t sent me this artwork for my living room!
We picked this gray sectional from the Ashley Furniture line. I wanted a couch big enough to entertain guests and for us to both lay down at the same time. I’m obsessed with Buffalo Check, and I ordered these buffalo check pillow covers from Amazon. I am swooning over them every time I walk in our living room!
Of course, we have the room decorated for the holidays! We went with similar ornaments on our tree this year, but added a few more. You can see our black and white tree from last year in my Christmas Home Tour.
We love our color coordinated shelves! We decorated them with different odds and ends we already had, and of course added a few holiday touches to them! I love these vintage deer and shiny brite trees. The retro look is one of my favorite things!
