The holidays are such a special time to be with family and friends! One of my favorite traditions is counting our blessings together as a family! I was trying to think of a way to bring together both thankfulness and a display in my home to bring the two together! I decided on trying to make a dream catcher of sorts – and I couldn’t be more thrilled with how this turned out.
First, I started out with a hula hoop from the Dollar store! Luckily, the store I went to had three different sizes so I didn’t have to commit to the largest hoop I could find.
I used some neutral-colored yarn to wrap around the hula hoop – surprisingly, this didn’t take too long and it was mindless so I could watch a movie while I wrapped it! After the entire hoop was wrapped, in no order, I wrapped the yarn across the hoop. I tried to make sure that every area was covered slightly – kind of like a dream catcher.
For the banner, I cut pieces of colored card stock, then attached a smaller piece of the same shape of kraft card stock. I attached them together using glue, and put them on top of a piece of bakers twine. Then, I attached these copper colored glitter letters. Copper is just so pretty.
After I attached the small banner to my blessings catcher, I used leftover kraft card stock to cut out thin pennant banner type pieces. On these pieces, we write what we’re thankful for and attach them using a mini clothespin – aren’t those so cute?
We keep this in our entryway during the fall months to be reminded what the season is about and to encourage all of our guests to fill their hearts with gratitude.
How do you count your blessings for Thanksgiving?
